Hello everyone at Beautiful Brunettes
Here's something of interest. 2009 Mayan Calendars are being sold in support of an upcoming novel about the collapse of the Maya in the 9th century AD. 2012mayancalendar.org/buy-cal...-online/
Tentatively Titled: The Mystic of the Maya
Set within the ancient Maya capitol of Tikal, during the third Katun (20-year period) of Jasaw Kaan K’awill II (“He who clears the Sky”), the story begins with the dramatic birth of Jasaw Kaan's son Pakal Kaan K’awill [Radiant sky]. - A coveted and largely suppressed prophecy circulates among the lower classes of the classic Maya population. For over two calendar rounds [104-years] a prophesy has been passed down that states a boy-King will be born at the center of the Cosmos [Tikal] on the last day Tlaloc stands still in the heavens [Venus War-God], and that this shall coincide with the inauguration of Katun-Two of the Tenth Baktun [AD 869]. It is said this birth will take place at the base of the world tree - the ceremonial platform of Temple IV in Tikal - and this prevents the sacrifice of the Katun period inauguration in keeping with the law of time. It also states that the birth shall be anointed by Chaak (the water God) and that he, the boy-King will grow into manhood with the duty that he shall enter the cave leading to Xibalaba (the Underworld) to face the Nine Lords of the night (mystical creatures) and make peace with the gods to end the need for human sacrifice. - Despite Jasaw Kaan and the priesthoods painstaking efforts to prevent the birth from happening according to these stringent and seemingly vulnerable dictates, events unfold with a supernatural intelligence that serves only to authenticate the prophesy into the collective mind-stream. Adding to this, Pacal's birth is inaugurated by the outbreak of rain over the scorched lands of multiple Kingdoms following three years of continuous drought. - From this point forward the novel follows Pacal Kaan K'awiil as he struggles to fulfill his destiny despite his Father and the Priesthoods shrouded attempts to undo him at every turn.
